Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman stated on X that a committee for the Makkah defense alliance, between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, reaffirmed its commitment to counter any attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and the holy sites, as the Houthis continue to target the kingdom.
He added: "The emergency meeting of the political and defense strategic committee of the Makkah defense alliance confirms the solidarity and unity of our countries in facing the heinous attacks that have targeted the kingdom and the holy sites, and activating collective deterrence against these attacks, and against all those behind them within the framework of the Makkah defense alliance."
For its part, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry confirmed that the agreed-upon forces and military capabilities will be rapidly deployed within Saudi Arabia.
It added that Nauman Mahmood from Pakistan has been appointed as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah defense alliance for a period of 3 years, noting that Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey condemn attempts to target Makkah and Medina.
