Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rahi on Wednesday met with Lebanon ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Fawzi Kabbara, and Lebanon ambassador to Bahrain, Milad Nammour in Bkirki, with talks featuring high on the challenges faced by the Lebanese abroad, namely in the Kingdom and in Bahrain.
“Following the remarks lately made by Information Minister Georges Kordahi, the recent diplomatic crisis has been intensifying, through the halting of issuing visas and receiving the Lebanese exports,” the ambassadors said.
“The solution lies in taking the necessary steps so to return things to their normal course,” they added, hailing the role of the Gulf states in helping Lebanon and supporting its economy.
The ambassadors stressed that the situation is serious in the Gulf States regarding the measures that have been taken against the Lebanese residents there, affirming that the matter will worsen in the upcoming period, and it will have catastrophic repercussions.
“Lebanon’s imports from Saudi Arabia alone are $600 million annually. Thus, the Lebanese factories will face the risk of shutting their doors,” they said.
