Lufthansa Suspends Night Flights to Beirut Amidst Regional Tensions

In response to escalating tensions on Lebanon's southern border, Lufthansa has announced the suspension of night flights to and from Beirut from June 29th to July 31st, 2024.

A spokesperson for Lufthansa confirmed the suspension on Monday, emphasizing that day flights to and from Beirut will continue as scheduled. The airline cited "current developments" in the Middle East as the reason behind this precautionary measure.

Simultaneously, Swiss International Airlines AG, which includes Lufthansa, Swiss, and Eurowings, has also adjusted their flight schedules during this period. As a result, travelers may experience short-notice flight cancellations or changes.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut issued a notice regarding these adjustments, advising American citizens to closely monitor their flight itineraries.

The embassy emphasized the importance of staying informed through official channels and registering with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest updates and alerts regarding travel advisories.

For affected passengers, Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines AG are expected to provide assistance and support in rescheduling flights and accommodating travel needs during this period of adjustment.

As the situation evolves, travelers are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on any further developments that may impact air travel to and from Beirut.
