Kataeb Social and Economic Council Deems 2022 Draft Budget as New Denial of Lebanon’s Harsh Reality

Kataeb's Social and Economic Council on Tuesday deemed the 2022 draft budget as a new denial of the harsh reality Lebanon is experiencing, stressing that the budget is a part of a comprehensive plan that respects the Constitution and laws.

“The budget, as it is presented today, is nothing more than a digital thesis lacking of any rescue plan that could save the country from its unending crises,” read a statement issued by the council.

“This draft should address the dire situation that the Lebanese people are going through. The principles of this draft should be clear, detailed and comprehensive,” it said.

"The public sector must be reviewed as stated in the second chapter of the Salary Scale Law of 2017. This law has observed a package of reforms which include the adoption of a modern approach in the recruitments and the reproduction of the public sector by encouraging the governance,” it noted.

The council stressed the need to tackle the problem of electricity in Lebanon that caused the waste of billion of dollars.
