On March 2, Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel – though the decision for it to do so was almost certainly made by Iran – carrying Lebanon into a new war with Israeli forces. On the same day, Lebanon's government declared Hezbollah's military and security activities illegal. Shortly thereafter, army commander General Rodolphe Haykal made it clear to Prime Minister Nawaf Salam that the military did not have the means to implement the government's decision. Now, the Lebanese army finds itself in an uncomfortable position.

Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan on Saturday promised to support the various agricultural sectors in the border area, especially the Marjayoun and Hasbaya regions.
Hajj Hassan, whose words came during a tour in the Southern region, added that "the Ministry of Agriculture will pay attention to the agricultural sector, especially in the olive, pine and bee sectors, and support and activate agricultural cooperatives."
The minister's tour began with a meeting with heads of agricultural cooperative societies and farmers in Dar Hasbaya, in the presence of MP Kassem Hashem.
