Gemayel Meets With French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo, Stresses Need to Hold Parliamentary Elections

Former President of the Kataeb party Amine Gemayel on Thursday met with French ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo with talks featuring high on the latest developments in Lebanon concerning the obstruction of the investigation of the Beirut port blast and the need to hold parliamentary elections in 2022.

“We, as the kataeb party, call for protecting the parliamentary elections that will be held in 2022. Full equality in exercising the right of universal suffrage, and preventing the marginalization of expatriates, should be established,” he stressed.

Gemayel voiced his concerns over the Beirut clashes that occurred today as supporters of the Shiite group Hezbollah and its allies gathered in the Lebanese capital to protest against the judge investigating last year's catastrophic port explosion, calling for protection of the investigation process that is carried out by Judge Bitar.
