Lebanon and Iraq signed a landmark agreement Saturday to ship 1 million tons of Iraqi diesel to operate the country’s aging power plants.
The agreement was signed in Baghdad by caretaker Energy and Water Minister Raymond Ghajar and his Iraqi counterpart in the presence of Director-General of General Security Gen. Abbas Ibrahim and senior Iraqi officials.
The Iraqi crude oil will be refined and processed in Iraq before getting shipped by sea to Lebanon.
