The Lebanese government on Thursday made a landmark decision, committing to the disarmament of Hezbollah by the end of the year. Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Sunday hailed the opposition for their win in the engineers’ syndicate as well as Aref Yassine’s election as the head of the order.
“The Syndicate has revolted on behalf of all the Lebanese people and has proved that change is possible,” Gemayel wrote on Twitter.
“The alternative does exist. Unity is key to success and confusion won’t help,” he said.
“Thank you to all the engineers in Lebanon for the dose of hope you gave to our oppressed people.”
