Gemayel Calls for a Rescue Process That Starts with the Parliament's Resignation

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel on Thursday deemed Hezbollah’s control over Lebanon as the main problem of the current collapse, saying that as long as it is in control, the country will never be saved.

“We have said many times that the system’s parties won’t be able to form a government and we have advised to stop the negotiations,” Gemayel said in an interview with Al-Hadath channel, recalling for an independent government not a political one.

Gemayel called on lawmakers and President Michel Aoun to resign in a bid to allow the Lebanese people to choose their new representatives, saying that if early parliamentary elections were held a year ago, people would have not experienced poverty and hunger.

"In light of the exchange rate collapse, we are heading to aggravate the social crisis further, as the middle class will become impoverished, and what is required is a rescue process that starts with the resignation of the Parliament, otherwise Lebanon will remain hostage to the failed system that pursues Hezbollah's agenda, and it cannot even form a government."
