Kataeb Party Warns against Stirring up Sectarian Tensions

The Kataeb party on Tuesday warned against stirring up sectarian tensions currently being practiced by the ruling authority, deeming the Engineers Syndicate elections as a model on which change is built and opposition is united.

“The party refuses the policy of freedoms’ suppression that is being practiced by the usual police methods so as to silence the opposition voices through flawed summons,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau after its weekly meeting at the party’s headquarters in Saifi, warning against such ongoing transgressions and militia behavior.

The political bureau congratulated Lebanon’s engineers on the change approach they have chosen for their union, deeming such approach as a resounding cry on behalf of all the Lebanese in the face of the settlement system.

“The engineers have taken the first step towards liberating the country from the confinement that was imposed on it and they have proved that the Lebanese will not be neglected anymore,” the statement said.

“Opposition ranks must be unified. Uniting the word and the project is in the interest of Lebanon, which needs a serious workshop led by patriotic changers who are motivated only by the country’s interests and not by partisan and factional interests,” it said.
