Kataeb Party Says Financial Maneuvers Are No Longer Useful, Affirms Solution Lies in Parliamentary Elections

The Kataeb party on Tuesday slammed the financial maneuvers practiced by the current ruling authority towards the Lebanese people, saying that they are no more convincing or useful.

“The capital control has been issued after a delay of 19 months so as to make smuggled money legal,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau following its weekly meeting at the party’s headquarters in Saifi.

“The real problem is that people have lost the internal and external trust with the Lebanese leaders and whoever is having their back,” it said.

The political bureau voiced regret over the Lebanese’ ongoing deprive from their rights, stressing that Lebanon can no longer remain a hostage of two teams fighting over power.

“All the threats made regarding the resignation from the Parliament are nothing but blackmail attempts from people who are only manned by Hezbollah,” the statement added.

The party deemed Hezbollah as the part controlling the country's decision and its sovereignty, saying that it is tightening up its grip on the Lebanese institutions in a bid to obey Iran’s agendas in the region.

“The Lebanese situation currently prevailing over the country won’t change except with this authority’s resignation which will be achieved through the upcoming parliamentary elections,” it noted.

“The ballot boxes will be the turning point in which the Lebanese will have the opportunity to restore their free decision and the chance to rebuild their country,” it added.

The meeting was held for the first time at the party’s headquarters in Saifi after the Beirut port blast on August 4th under the chairmanship of Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel.

A minute of silence was dedicated ahead of the meeting for the soul of the Kataeb's Secretary-General Nazar Najarian and all the martyrs who have been assassinated on this day.
