Residents of the southern Lebanese border town of Rmeish have received repeated calls from the Israeli army instructing them not to allow any Hezbollah members to enter the village. Kataeb’s Media Council on Friday affirmed that the party was never concerned in the Lebanese Olympic Committee elections that were held yesterday, stressing that the Kataeb's name has been linked with alliances that have nothing to do with reality.
“We congratulate Mr. Pierre Jalakh for his win but we had nothing to do with these sports elections,” the Council said in a statement.
“Jalakh’s victory came as a result of his independent position, his success at the head of the Shooting Federation and the achievement of this federation on the Olympic level which gave him the confidence of the concerned unions with this democratic sporting merit, far from any political settlements,” it added.
