Resigned Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankache on Thursday slammed the decision aimed at expanding the Burj Hammoud landfill by forty thousand additional meters, saying that such decision poses a health and environmental threat to the region and its citizens.
“We have run out of all the available means to halt this indiscriminate crime against the people of Metn and we have resorted to the Judiciary twice but yet, we haven’t achieved any results,” Hanakche told Tele Liban.
“This file is being addressed secretly and is funding certain political parties,” he said.
“Why hasn’t this decision been published in the official newspaper until now?” Hankache asked.
“Why was this project awarded $18 million without any tender?”
