Achkar Accuses Ruling Class of Starving the Lebanese People

Head of the Kataeb's Students and Youth Department, Zakhia Achkar on Saturday accused the current ruling authority of starving the Lebanese people, saying that what happened after the Beirut port explosion on August 4 was the final divorce with the political class.

“77 years have passed on Lebanon’s independence and yet, we still have no State. There is only a mafia that is ruling us and does nothing except making people suffer,” Achkar told Voice of Lebanon radio station.

“The State of the revolution exists through the rejection of the old Lebanon that is based on quotas and the traditional practices of the power at the expense of the people's interest,” he said.

“This revolution takes more than one form, and I expect it to be translated into the ballot boxes,” he added.

Achkar stressed that the youth cannot be convinced of the State as it always absent, saying that the battle is to encourage them of the change project.

“We have to be united as the youth and students of Lebanon and bring the forces of change to the Parliament,” he noted.

“The change is coming,” he affirmed.
