Lebanon Extends General Mobilization as Coronavirus Infections Reach Peak Rate

Health Minister Hamad Hassan on Thursday announced the extension of the general mobilization in Lebanon to one more month due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases, saying that some of the Lebanese regions will be isolated as the number of infections has reached its peak rate.

Following meeting with President Michel Aoun in Baabda, Hassan reiterated importance of adhering to the preventive measures so as to curb the spread of the virus, saying that 50% of the hospitals’ beds dedicated to coronavirus patients are now full.

“Governmental and private schools must open their doors to people infected with the virus,” he said.

Hassan called on people to abide by social distancing and prevent crowded areas, saying that the health sector now lacks many facilities following the Beirut blast that left many people injured behind.
