Former President Gemayel Meets with Algerian Ambassador to Lebanon

Former President Amine Gemayel on Monday met with Algerian ambassador to Lebanon Ahmad Boutehri at the House of Future, with talks featuring high on the Lebanese-Algerian ties, the Arab reality and the repercussions of both political and health crises on the region.

Gemayel thanked Algeria for its humanitarian initiative towards Lebanon following the massive blast that rocked Beirut’s city last week, sending greetings to the country’s president Abdelmadjid Tebboune and to the Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad.

In an interview with Algerian television, Gemayel called on the government to resign and form an independent government that would restore the Lebanese decision-making, stressing the need to hold early parliamentary elections so as to reestablish trust to people who will freely choose their representatives.

“The resignation of the government is in the Prime Minister’s hands and the formation of a new government depends on the intentions of the president of the republic and his allies,” he said.
