Hankache Responds to Jreissati's Attack: I Leave It to Experts to Assess Your Great Success

Hankache had written on Thursday on his Twitter account that “Governance is continuous! Yet, in the case of the Environment Ministry, everything is permissible, except for the protraction in destroying our health, our sea and mountains. Your predecessor ministers were bards, arrogant and irresponsible.”

He condemned the presented solutions by former ministers to the Metn and Costa Brava maritime landfills, noting that every government was nothing but an extension of the previous one.

“Your Excellency, twice we’ve conferred at the ministry to listen to your thoughts on the garbage crisis matter in the Metn region and another time in the presence of all the Metn lawmakers at the Grand Serail,” in his turn, Jreissati rejoined on Twitter to Hankache’s statement.

“You mainly suggested that the state should turn non-residential, remote areas across the eastern mountain range into landfills, specifically in Arsal,” he indicated.

“I leave it to experts in waste management to comment on the feasibility of your suggestion. The environment and people’s health have to combine us and not be a way for outbidding and populism,” he added.

For his part, Hankache reminded Jreissati of his dereliction with respect to his duties at the ministry in another tweet.

“I leave it to the experts to assess your great success at the ministry! I would like to remind you that despite our several meetings urging you not to expand maritime landfills, you have insisted on enforcing the plan despite grave health and environmental dangers,” the Kataeb lawmaker condemned.

“The time of dodging responsibility is over. Every individual should hold accountability for his decisions. You probably haven’t even read the roadmap we’ve presented you,” he blasted, attaching his tweet with the outline of their meeting held on February 11, 2019.
