Hankache: Lebanon Cannot Be Fixed by Patching Things Up

Kataeb MP Elias Hankache on Friday asserted that the Kataeb party has chosen to hold on to its opposition stance at the expense of personal gains.

“We have reached everything that the Kataeb party warned of. The country’s situation cannot be repaired by patching things up,” he denoted in an interview on Voice of Lebanon radio station.

“The Kataeb party proposed the formation of a government of specialists as we deem the national unity government as a farce which cannot pull out the country from its crises,” he pointed out.

“Enough with lies and misinformation! The Lebanese people care about those who fix the problem, not those who describe it to them,” he slammed.

“The citizen is oppressed as he incurs to fulfill his commitments, paying his taxes without receiving any state service in return,” Hankache condemned.

“We cannot borrow money in the presence of squandering and corruption so we must resort to serious reforms; so far, they haven’t turned to practical measures,” he indicated.

“The government implemented a hiring freeze in the public sector for three years which will happen to end few months ahead of the next Parliamentary elections and by then the superfluous employment problem will resume,” he criticized.

“The role of the public sector is to entail productivity and not to hire fresh graduates. It is the state’s responsibility to create a normal work environment for its youths to prevent their immigration seeking employment,” he blasted.

“It is highly prohibited to encroach on the Lebanese army whether on the retired military officers’ rights, or their food or their dignity,” he cautioned.

“Our disagreement with the Lebanese Forces party is not personal but is connected to the Presidential settlement which has led the country to this current situation,” he said, adding that “all those involved in the settlement should bear responsibility.”

“It is unacceptable that Beirut be ranked among the most polluted cities in the world,” he denounced.
