Lebanon's Zahrani Power Plant Receives Critical Fuel Boost Amid Energy Crisis

In a critical move to address Lebanon's lingering energy crisis, Ziad Al-Zein, head of the oil facilities in Zahrani, announced that fuel delivery operations resumed early this morning with 5 million liters of fuel having been pumped into the Zahrani power plant on a temporary loan basis.

Al-Zein expected a decision on the power plant's reactivation to be announced later today following a meeting of the Electricité du Liban (EDL) Board of Directors. The fuel will need to undergo a 24-hour preparation period before it can be used in production facilities.

Initially, the power supply is expected to be limited to essential facilities, such as the Beirut airport, the Beirut port.

MTV channel reported that the 5,000 tons of fuel acquired by EDL to ensure a minimal electricity supply for public services is sourced from the Lebanese Army’s reserves.
