The jewelry industry emerges as one of Lebanon's most profitable sectors. In 2022, the country exported jewelry valued at over $752 million, constituting 22 percent of its total exports, a significant proportion. This demand has led to a surge in Lebanese jewelry brands, evident in their active participation in events like the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition.
This exhibition, now in its twentieth edition, held from February 5 to 11, draws over 500 brands, including prominent international names, showcasing Lebanon's strong presence. The involvement of Lebanese-origin brands not only yields economic benefits but also serves as a testament to Lebanon's skilled workforce and creativity.
Lebanese aesthetic sensibilities have gained international recognition, exemplified by brands like Mouawad, which has sponsored the Miss Universe competition for five consecutive years, crafting increasingly exquisite crowns for the winners. Such achievements not only reflect the success of individual brands but also contribute to Lebanon's reputation on the global stage.
Although Lebanon imports raw materials for its jewelry industry, the real value lies in the design and craftsmanship of the pieces. Moreover, this sector plays a crucial role in the country's tourism industry, as events like the Doha exhibition aim to attract visitors and bolster Lebanon's position as a cultural and artistic hub.
