Lebanon’s Ceasefire Envoy Says Hezbollah Not Cooperating on Disarmament

Lebanon’s chief delegate to the ceasefire monitoring committee, Simon Karam, said Beirut has made the return of residents to the south the central pillar of its negotiating stance, highlighting Lebanon’s determination to preserve the existing truce framework, known as the "mechanism."

Speaking to the Al-Hadath television channel, Karam said Lebanon remains fully committed to the ceasefire committee mechanism and is pushing for it to convene as soon as possible.

He stressed that the Lebanese Army is dismantling Hezbollah’s military infrastructure on its own, making clear that the group is not cooperating with State authorities on disarmament.

Karam said Hezbollah has provided the army with no information about its weapons or military facilities.

“It has never happened that Hezbollah gave specific coordinates for the army to raid in order to seize equipment or a facility,” he said.
