Lebanese President Joseph Aoun wrapped up a visit to Doha on Monday after attending an emergency Arab-Islamic summit convened to address Israel’s recent attack on Qatar, holding a series of bilateral meetings with regional leaders on the sidelines.
According to the Lebanese presidency, Aoun met Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa to discuss ways to strengthen ties, including maritime border demarcation, the return of refugees, and cooperation on detainees. The two leaders agreed to set up joint economic and security committees and to maintain coordination open between their foreign ministers.

Aoun also briefed his Syrian counterpart on efforts to maintain stability in southern Lebanon, warning that Israel’s repeated strikes sought to fuel sectarian strife.
Sources told Lebanese broadcaster Al-Jadeed that the talks between Aoun and al-Sharaa were among the most positive of the summit, producing agreement on economic cooperation, refugee returns and joint committees.
Aoun also met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirming Lebanon’s commitment to “solid relations based on mutual respect, transparency and non-interference in internal affairs.”
