Kataeb Party Warns Against Turning Beirut into Field for Terrorist Organizations

The Kataeb Party’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting chaired by Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After reviewing the field events, especially those related to the targeting of the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the subsequent threats, the following statement was issued:

1- The Kataeb Political Bureau warns that Lebanon might become a battlefield for retaliatory operations and regional score-settling, potentially exacerbating Lebanon's entanglement in a war rejected by its citizens, who do not believe it serves their nation's interests.

2- The Kataeb Political Bureau expressed its refusal for Beirut to forcefully transform from a beacon of civilization and culture into one of the capitals of the Axis, a headquarters for terrorist organizations, and a platform for leaders of militias affiliated with Iran under the guise of Jerusalem Day or meetings of "United arenas" axis leaders.

3- The Kataeb Political Bureau expressed its concern over the security breakdown and the widespread killing and violence in many Lebanese areas, from Tripoli to Beirut and most recently in Achrafieh, considering that the situation now requires exceptional and strict security measures to be taken by the security forces with visible and public presence in neighborhoods and streets to compensate for the absence of the state, which may drive citizens to arbitrary choices.
