Kataeb Party Says Hate Speech Threatens Civil Peace, Calls for Judicial Action

The Kataeb’s political bureau held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After discussing the latest developments, the following statement was issued:

1-  On the 42nd anniversary of President Bachir Gemayel's martyrdom, and amidst the complete collapse of sovereignty, free decision-making, and Lebanon's entrapment in regional axes that prioritize their interests over the nation's, the Kataeb Party reaffirms its commitment to the sovereign path set by Bachir. His leadership upheld Lebanon's full 10,452 km², emphasizing "Lebanon First," not as a mere slogan, but as a daily action to revive the Constitution, restore institutional order, and rekindle a sense of belonging to a true homeland.

2- Lebanese citizens followed Minister of Foreign Affairs remarks, which implied that the government bloc holds decision-making power and could convince Hezbollah of its preferred stance on international resolutions, even suggesting an amendment to UNSC Resolution 1701.

The international community is well aware that Hezbollah holds the real power, and international envoys act accordingly. The Minister's statements are nothing more than compliance with Hezbollah’s Secretary-General's directive to let the State take the lead in negotiations—a charade that deceives no one. On the contrary, it further weakens the State and strengthens Lebanon's alignment with the resistance axis.

What is urgently needed now is to end this ongoing, senseless conflict, which continues to claim lives every day, including the latest sacrifices from the heroes of Civil Defense, who never hesitate to give their all for Lebanon and its people.

3-  Hezbollah is relentlessly working alongside a group of its paid operatives who exploit media platforms to open supportive fronts for its cause. These operatives engage in a vicious sectarian war aimed at other Lebanese communities, without hesitation attacking Christians, labeling them as traitors and collaborators, belittling their role, mocking their presence and principles, and even reducing them to mere percentages.

In response to this hate speech, incitement, and provocation, which are criminalized under Lebanese law, the Kataeb Party calls on the Lebanese judiciary to act immediately to curb this wave, which now threatens civil peace.

The Kataeb Party emphasizes that the best way to silence these voices and their backers is to adopt a unifying national discourse that blocks Hezbollah's clear agenda to take over the country.

4- The Kataeb Party was closely monitoring the developments in the arrest of former Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh. While it is a bold and welcome step, it must be viewed with extreme caution, as it comes at a time when the same system—benefiting in solidarity from various financial schemes—is still in place.

The Political Bureau demands that this process leads to a judicial awakening that revives accountability, uncovering the identities of all individuals involved in and responsible for the financial and economic collapse of the country, as well as addressing long-standing cases such as political assassinations and the Beirut Port explosion.

It also emphasizes that the Lebanese judiciary is now under the scrutiny of the Lebanese people, and neither they nor we will allow ourselves to witness another sham pretending to seek justice in public while quietly covering up crimes behind closed doors.

On the 32nd anniversary of the abduction of comrade Boutros Khawand, the Kataeb Party reaffirms its commitment to this cause, which remains a deep wound from the war.

It also considers Khawand as a key symbol of the Kataeb and the Lebanese resistance.

It also pledges to continue advocating for his release with all available means and on every occasion, extending its deepest respect and admiration to his family for their resilience and patience, sending them its highest expressions of love and honor.
