The Kataeb Party’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting chaired by Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After the meeting, the following statement was issued:
1- The Kataeb Political Bureau warns against the remnants of power surrendering to Hezbollah and adopting its positions, attributing them to the Lebanese people in any negotiations conducted with any external envoy. Not only is it an usurper of authority in the absence of the President of the Republic, but it also deliberately contributes to plunging the country into a deadly confrontation that it cannot bear or even manage amid the deteriorated situation it is experiencing.
The Kataeb Political Bureau holds these individuals responsible for the state's breakdown and its deteriorating situation, resulting from their abandonment of the state's right to decide on matters of war and peace, surrendering it to Hezbollah and, consequently, to Iran. They have effectively transformed the Lebanese people into bargaining chips in service of a foreign agenda alien to their interests.
2-The Kataeb Political Bureau regards House Speaker Nabih Berri's actions as dealing a decisive blow to the initiative put forth by the National Moderation Bloc. By initially concealing his opposition to it in the first round to prevent its failure, as he claims, he essentially acknowledges that it did not offer anything worthy of consideration. Then, he subsequently embraces it with his rejected conditions, ultimately leading to its failure.
It reaffirms that the sole path to resolving the presidential vacuum is through meeting the opposition halfway and Hezbollah relinquishing its candidate, whose presence obstructs the presidential elections and paralyzes the country. This entails proceeding without preconditions towards a consensus on a third candidate trusted by all parties, capable of engaging with all factions and negotiating on behalf of Lebanon to safeguard its sovereignty, independence, cultural identity, and distinctive role in this region of the world.
The Kataeb Political Bureau urges all parties involved in the presidential deadlock to recognize the reality that the maneuvers orchestrated by Hezbollah and its allies aim to link the fate of the presidency to regional developments, seeking internal gains to tighten their grip on the country.
It emphasized that free Lebanese citizens have not, and will not, permit such actions.
3-On the anniversary of the Cedar Revolution, the Kataeb Political Bureau commemorates Kataeb martyrs Pierre Gemayel, Antoine Ghanem, and their comrades who fell on the path of freedom, sovereignty, and independence.
It underscores the historical truth that every foreign agenda introduced to Lebanon has crumbled in the face of its people's unwavering resolve to prioritize Lebanon's interests above all else. This enduring principle remains steadfast, serving as a timeless reminder from which valuable lessons are derived.
