Kataeb Party Engages with EPP Officials on Lebanon's Challenges

As part of the Lebanese Kataeb Party's unwavering commitment to seeking international support and collaboration in addressing the complex challenges facing Lebanon, Marwan Abdallah, the head of the party's Foreign Affairs Department, took part in a regular meeting of the European People's Party at the European Parliament in Brussels.

During this meeting, Abdallah delivered an extensive address outlining the current situation in Lebanon and the factors that have contributed to the ongoing crisis.

Abdallah emphasized the urgent need for the Lebanese state to implement an immediate ceasefire and fully adhere to international resolutions, notably United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. He also called for the swift deployment of both the Lebanese army and international forces to assume control of the situation and prevent any further military actions.

Abdallah highlighted that any field measures must be complemented by a diplomatic and political process aimed at restoring order within Lebanon's institutions. This process, he noted, should be supported by a comprehensive international framework that guarantees stability. Such measures would also help address war-related consequences, notably the mass internal displacement triggered by the hostilities, culminating in a reconstruction effort to enable their return to their homes and villages.

In Brussels, Abdallah held side meetings with Members of the European Parliament from various countries, including France, Germany, Croatia, Spain, Italy, and Hungary. The discussions focused on recent developments in Lebanon, as Abdallah expressed appreciation for the significant support shown by European officials for the Lebanese people.

An agreement was reached to undertake future collaborative actions in the European Parliament between the Kataeb Party and its partners, in response to the evolving situation.

Furthermore, Abdallah attended a dinner hosted by the Global Democratic Union, where the situation in Lebanon was also discussed with representatives from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and the United States. Solutions to the crisis, as proposed by the Kataeb Party, were presented, aimed at avoiding future risks and ensuring lasting stability for Lebanon.
