A Kataeb Party delegation, led by Mrs. Carine Gemayel, wife of Party President Samy Gemayel, and Mrs. Nicole Gemayel, Mayor of Bikfaya-Mhaydseh, conducted a significant visit to South Lebanon to honor the martyrs and engage with local communities.
The delegation included Kataeb Political Bureau members Maroun Assaf and Ghassan Abou Jaoude, as well as Mukhtar Elie Skaff.
The visit began at the Kataeb's district office in Bint Jbeil, where the delegation was warmly received by District President Charbel Louka, regional district heads, and local dignitaries from Ain Ebel, led by the town’s mayor. The group then proceeded to the Kataeb Martyrs Memorial in Ain Ebel, where they laid wreaths on behalf of the Kataeb Party and the Municipality of Bikfaya.
The delegation also visited the 1920 Martyrs’ Mausoleum, a site dedicated to Ain Ebel’s fallen martyrs, where wreaths were placed in their memory. Following this, prayers were offered at Ain Ebel’s historic church. Father Hanna Sleiman, the church’s priest, provided an insightful account of the church’s history, underscoring its deep significance to the community.
In the church hall, a meeting took place where the Mayor of Ain Ebel expressed gratitude for Bikfaya’s hospitality during the displacement crisis that residents of Ain Ebel faced due to the recent Israel-Hezbollah conflict. Father Sleiman encouraged the delegation to make regular visits to the region. Hisham Bou Ghanam, speaking on behalf of the local crisis cell, emphasized the collaborative efforts between the cell and the Kataeb Party.
The discussion also touched on the ongoing works at the "Our Lady of Light" shrine, a project supported by the Kataeb Engineers Union, which had developed the plans and designs for the site.
The delegation then traveled to Rmeish, where they met with local leaders, including Father Najib Al-Amil and Mayor Milad Al-Alam, as well as residents and mukhtars. Father Al-Amil expressed appreciation for the Kataeb Party’s steadfast support and praised Bikfaya’s role in hosting displaced families. Mayor Al-Alam called for greater political representation for the region, thanking the party for its advocacy.
In Debel, the delegation was greeted with a warm reception. District President Charbel Louka thanked the leaders of Bikfaya and the Kataeb Party for their unwavering support. The gathering included key figures such as Mayor Khalil Hanna, Father Fadi Felfleh, and members of the local council. Sister Gerard Merhej, Director of the Antonine Sisters School, and Tony Nadaf, Principal of Debel Public School, also attended and welcomed the delegation’s visit.
The visit concluded with a luncheon hosted by the head of the Kataeb's Bint Jbeil district. The delegation then visited Debel’s historic church and lit candles at the Shrine of Our Lady of Debel as a gesture of solidarity and prayer.
The day ended with a gathering at the residence of Kataeb Political Bureau member Maroun Assaf, attended by Mrs. Carine Gemayel and Mrs. Nicole Gemayel, along with other political figures and party members. Attendees included Monsignor Elias Al-Asmar, Danny Jabbour, and Joseph Kassab, President of the Kataeb’s Zahrani district.
