The Kataeb party on Wednesday stressed that the ruling system is robbing the Lebanese people through transactions, quotas, wrong policies pursued by the Central Bank and the ill-considered laws approved by the government, the latest chapter of which was the Capital Control law, which was drafted in an ill-considered and illegal manner.
“This law enshrines unfair discrimination against the Lebanese depositors and classifies them between an old person who has rights and a new one, devoid of them in the greatest violation of the Constitution punishable by law, to protect the ruling elite that has exploited its position and smuggled its funds abroad,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau following its weekly meeting at the party’s headquarters in Saifi.
The Political Bureau warned against any step that this system of illegal trading could take that can affect the future of the Lebanese under the pretext of complying with the demands of the International Monetary Fund, while the mentioned institutions are calling for a package of reforms that we have not witnessed any of them as they affect their financial and political interests.
“We condemn the armed attack that was launched during the announcement of “Together for Change" list in Sarfand at the disposal of a militia aimed at terrorizing free voters, thwarting the democratic process in the country and punching the rebels in the grip of arms,” it stressed.
The Kataeb party deemed the attack that was launched on the campaign of its in Chiyah as an additional message, saying that the pepetrators are well-know and they are trying to silence it and it is part of attempts that did not and will not succeed in preventing it from fighting the big battle with honorable people throughout the country.
“We call on the ruling authority to suspend its disruptive tricks so as prevent the Lebanese expatriates from casting their votes under the pretext of lack of funds and the guise of misallocation of polling stations to end difficult hardships in accessing them, in addition to not circulating the names of voters in each polling station, which obscures the ability to monitor delegates and undermines the transparency of the electoral process,’ it added.
The Kataeb party also called for the appointment of committees and putting an end to the obstacles and disputes that prevent their completion, while it is the main reference for determining the reviews and announcing official results.
“We also call on the Lebanese people to be aware of the fate of the electoral process and the extent to which their future is linked to its results. You should cast your votes without hesitation,” it stressed.
“Every refrain from participating is in the interest of the system that seeks to float itself with all its strength, while it is necessary to hold it accountable and save the country and its people and this option is entrusted to the Lebanese on May 15. They are offered 2 choices: get out of these crisis or fall further into the abyss of collapse,” it concluded.
