Kataeb Media Department issued the following statement:
"Al-Jadeed" disseminated inaccurate information concerning the Kataeb Party, its current and former members of parliament, and ministers. The report insinuated that they had acquired hundreds of arms licenses. This was in response to MP Nadim Gemayel's decision to withdraw his application for the renewal of arms licenses following the Ministry of Defense's refusal to renew them.
The Kataeb Media Department affirms that this information is erroneous and dates back to the previous year, namely 2023. The current requirement is for renewal for the year 2024, which the concerned parties are refraining from undertaking. This exposes official headquarters and party figures to well-known risks.
It emphasizes that the adopted policy, though implemented, is not applied equally to all, and will not deter us from protecting ourselves, whether with or without a permit, if necessary. Under no circumstances will we allow our lives and the lives of our supporters to be exposed at a time of rampant arms proliferation and the absence of a state authority overtaken by militias.
