Kataeb Media Department Calls on Sheikh al-Khatib to Address Hezbollah’s Decision-Making Monopoly

In response to the comments made by Vice-President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, regarding the statements of Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel, and his stance on the ongoing futile war, which were broadcasted on 'Al Jadeed' channel, the Kataeb Media Department issued the following statement:

We are not certain what His Eminence has heard regarding the positions of Kataeb  Leader, but it is unequivocally clear that the Kataeb Party has never and will never approach the issue of war from a sectarian, factional, or regional perspective.

Instead, we view it purely from a national standpoint, placing the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese people at the forefront. This is evident in the Kataeb Leader’s emphasis on the Lebanese right to life and their inherent value, which he asserted is equal to, if not greater than, that of others, whether Israeli or otherwise. He also stressed that the value of a southern citizen is equivalent to, if not greater than, that of Beirut, the mountains, Bekaa, and northern citizens.

However, this does not accurately reflect the policy of Hezbollah, which ties Lebanon to the interests of a broader regional axis, leading to Lebanon’s ruin without justification.

We reaffirm that the Kataeb Party and its leader always emphasize internal unity, adherence to the Constitution and institutions, and reject the use of force against others.

The Kataeb Party consistently stresses the importance of equality among all Lebanese, the rule of law, and justice in all matters, especially the Beirut Port explosion case. We also call for not emptying institutions and undermining the foundations of the State, which is, unfortunately, what the "duo" of the Amal Movement and Hezbollah practice daily.

Finally, we agree with His Eminence that Lebanon is in danger, not its sects. However, this danger has its reasons, primarily Hezbollah's unilateral decisions that affect all Lebanese without consulting them, and the use of excessive force by this party (Hezbollah) and its allies against other Lebanese. This must stop immediately, and we look forward to His Eminence playing this role from his religious and national position.
