Kataeb Leader Honors Fallen Journalists on Press Martyrs Day

Marking Lebanon's Press Martyrs Day, Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel paid tribute to journalists who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for truth and freedom of expression, reaffirming his party’s commitment to defending a free press.

“On the Day of Press Martyrs, we renew our pledge to those who resisted oppression and occupation and gave their lives for the cause of free speech," he wrote on X.

He called these journalists “guardians of memory,” highlighting that their voices continue to resonate through generations.

“Their voices endure to teach future generations that history can only be written with truth, and a nation can only be preserved through honesty,” he said.

Lebanon’s Day of Press Martyrs commemorates members of the press who have been killed for their work, many of whom lost their lives during times of political turmoil, foreign occupation, and internal conflict.
