Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel met on Wednesday with a delegation from the Lebanese Canadian University (LCU) at the party’s headquarters in Saifi, where the two sides signed an academic cooperation protocol aimed at expanding joint work in education, training, and research.
The delegation was led by LCU founder and Chancellor Dr. Rony Abi Nakhle and included LCU President Dr. Jalal Halwani and Assistant Director of the Admissions and Registration Office Jerges Semaan. From the Kataeb Party, Secretary-General Walid Fares, Head of the Educational Council Challita Bou Tanios, and Head of the Social Affairs Office Krystel Kaadi also attended the meeting.
The agreement seeks to enhance academic collaboration and create programs that support students and young professionals, helping them develop the skills needed to advance their scientific and professional paths.
Gemayel underscored the importance of the partnership, saying it would help build a more advanced educational environment and establish a sustainable framework capable of empowering Lebanese youth and preparing them for the job market.
He stressed that strengthening cooperation between political institutions and academic bodies is essential at a time when Lebanon’s younger generations face increasing social and economic hurdles.
“Investing in the capabilities of our youth is the foundation of rebuilding the country,” he said.
The newly signed protocol outlines mechanisms for collaboration in several fields, including training programs, research initiatives, and educational projects designed to provide practical experience and broaden opportunities for students.
Both sides expressed readiness to move quickly toward implementation, describing the agreement as a model for productive cooperation between national institutions and universities in Lebanon.
