The Israeli army announced on Thursday that its warplanes had struck more than 160 Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, with multiple strikes coordinated by ground forces operating in the region.
The Israeli military reported that the strikes resulted in the deaths of dozens of Hezbollah fighters and targeted rocket launchers, military infrastructure, and buildings linked to the group.
In addition to air raids, Israeli troops uncovered several large weapons caches during ground operations, including anti-tank missiles, mortars, and rifles, further weakening Hezbollah's military capabilities in the area, as per the military's statement.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese army confirmed that three of its soldiers were killed by Israeli fire during a rescue mission in southern Lebanon. The soldiers, including an officer, were targeted near the village of Yater in the Bint Jbeil region while attempting to evacuate wounded civilians.
Further complicating the regional situation, Syrian state media reported that Israeli airstrikes on Thursday hit a residential area in Damascus and a military site near Homs. The attack from Israeli positions in the occupied Golan Heights and northern Lebanon left one Syrian soldier dead and seven others wounded, according to Syria's official news agency, SANA.
While there were no immediate reports of casualties in Damascus, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights indicated that the strikes may have caused additional human losses. The military site in Homs, a province bordering Lebanon, has been a key area of activity for Hezbollah, a group backed by Iran, which continues to be involved in the wider regional conflict.
