The Lebanese army said it has repositioned several of its units in southern Lebanon as intensifying Israeli attacks and ground incursions have disrupted troop deployments and supply lines in border areas.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the army command said the move came in response to escalating Israeli strikes, particularly in areas witnessing “hostile incursions” around southern border towns, which have led to some units being encircled, isolated, and cut off from logistical support.
“As a result of the escalation of Israeli attacks, the army has carried out a redeployment operation involving a number of these units,” the statement said.
Despite the redeployment, the military said it remains committed to supporting residents in affected areas, noting that it has maintained a limited presence of troops in some towns “within available capabilities.”
The army also warned that ongoing Israeli attacks have been indiscriminate, affecting both military personnel and civilians across multiple regions.
At the same time, the command voiced concern over what it described as incitement and efforts by some media outlets and social media users to undermine confidence in the military.
It cautioned that such narratives could have “negative repercussions on the population and fuel internal tensions,” stressing that the army is operating under severe constraints.
“The institution is exerting every effort to carry out its duties within available means,” the statement said, highlighting the “significant pressures and challenges” posed by the current situation.
