Israel Issues Evacuation Orders, Pounds South Lebanon After Accusing Hezbollah of Ceasefire Breach

Israel’s military on Sunday accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire agreement and warned it would “act against it with force,” as fighting intensified across southern Lebanon and cross-border fire continued.

According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, a planned meeting of the security cabinet was canceled and replaced with a series of consultations. A correspondent for Al-Hadath reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with senior ministers and security officials, was holding a multi-front situation assessment.

Israeli media also said a religious festival at Mount Meron had been canceled due to the deteriorating security situation along the Lebanese border.

The Israeli army issued an urgent evacuation warning to residents of multiple towns in southern Lebanon, citing what it described as Hezbollah ceasefire violations. In a statement, military spokesman Avichay Adraee urged civilians in areas including Douweir, Arabsalim, Sharqiya, Jibsheet, Braachit, Srifa, Dounine, Breqaa, Qaqaiyat al-Jisr, Qsaybeh, and Kfarsir to leave immediately.

“In light of the Hezbollah terror organization’s violations of the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli army is forced to act against it with force and does not intend to harm you,” army spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee said. Residents were instructed to move at least 1,000 meters away from their homes and avoid proximity to Hezbollah fighters or facilities.

On the ground, a series of heavy airstrikes hit southern Lebanon from the early hours of the morning. Strikes were reported across the Iqlim al-Tuffah region, with explosions heard as far as the coastal city of Sidon. Additional air raids and artillery shelling targeted villages across the Nabatiyeh and Tyre districts.

Israeli artillery struck the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mayfadoun, while an airstrike hit the Rihan al-Zaghrin area in the Jezzine district. Shelling also resumed in agricultural areas including Qleyleh and the Mansouri plain, as well as Zawtar al-Sharqiya. The towns of Frun and Ghandoorieh were also hit by artillery fire.

Israeli warplanes carried out strikes on Srifa, Jabal al-Batam in the Tyre district, and Breqaa, while additional airstrikes targeted Qsaibeh and Shaabiyeh. Warplanes were reported flying at low altitude and conducting mock raids over the Zahrani region, contributing to a new wave of displacement as residents fled amid the sound of nearby strikes.

Shortly after midnight, Israeli aircraft struck and destroyed a rest area near the Martyrs’ Garden between Jargoua and Arabsalim. The town of Breqaa was also hit in a separate raid.

Israel has continued to carry out strikes across southern Lebanon, where its troops remain deployed in a strip of territory along the border, targeting what it says are Hezbollah positions and infrastructure.

Hezbollah, for its part, has maintained drone and rocket attacks against Israeli forces inside Lebanon and communities in northern Israel.

Israel's Channel 12 reported that five rockets launched by Hezbollah toward the Upper Galilee were intercepted, with one landing in an open area. The Israeli military also said rockets were fired toward the border community of Avivim, with at least one intercepted and no immediate reports of injuries.

“This is another violation of the ceasefire understandings by the Hezbollah terror organization,” the military said.
