Iranian Airliner Makes U-Turn After Israel Allegedly Claims Control of Beirut Airport Communications

An Iranian Qeshm Fars Air flight originating from Tehran, potentially bound for Lebanon or Syria, made a sudden U-turn while traversing Iraqi airspace earlier today, as reported by various flight tracking websites.

This unexpected maneuver occurred shortly after the Israeli army issued a stern warning regarding their commitment to thwart any attempts by Iran to transfer weapons to Hezbollah, which could include routes through the civilian Beirut airport.

In light of these developments, Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamiya, was quoted by Lebanese media stating that he had directed the Iranian aircraft to refrain from landing at Beirut’s airport and to avoid entering Lebanese airspace altogether. This instruction came in the wake of Israel asserting control over the airport's control tower, coupled with a warning that military force would be employed should the aircraft attempt to land in Lebanon.

Later, Iran Air announced it was suspending all flights to Beirut until further notice.
