Preliminary findings have identified the Bulgarian company Norta Global Ltd. in connection with the sale of pagers used by Hezbollah, which later exploded in Lebanon, LBCI channel reported.
The Hungarian-registered firm BAC Consulting Ltd. is reported to have acted as an intermediary in this transaction.
The pagers, which were branded with the logo of Taiwanese company Gold Apollo, have sparked significant controversy. Following the explosions, Gold Apollo distanced itself from the incident, stating that it had licensed the brand to BAC Consulting Kft for sales in specific regions. Gold Apollo emphasized that BAC Consulting was responsible for both the design and manufacturing of the devices.
According to LBCI's report, BAC Consulting, owned by Cristiana Arcidiancono-Barsony—a 49-year-old with both Hungarian and Italian origins—also denied any involvement. Established as a limited liability company in May 2022, BAC is registered at a residential address in Budapest, Szőnyi út 33/A.
The focus of the investigation has now shifted to Norta Global Ltd., a shell company based in Sofia, Bulgaria. Owned by Norwegian citizen Rinson Jose, Norta Global Ltd. is registered at Vitosha Street No. 48, ground floor, in Sofia’s Triaditsa district—another residential address.
Similar to BAC Consulting, Norta Global Ltd. is registered with a headquarters service provider that hosts 196 other companies. Founded in April 2022, the company is officially listed as engaged in project management, although it is presumed not to manufacture any products.
In response to media claims that a Bulgarian-registered company supplied the pagers used by Hezbollah, which were later detonated in Lebanon and Syria, the State Agency for National Security (SANS) has clarified that no customs operations involving these goods were conducted within Bulgaria. SANS, in coordination with the National Revenue Agency and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is conducting joint inspections to investigate the potential involvement of the Bulgarian company in supplying communication equipment to Hezbollah.
According to a report by bTV, SANS has noted that only cash flows, amounting to approximately 1.6 million euros, passed through Bulgaria, with these funds subsequently transferred to Hungary. The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover the extent of Norta Global Ltd.'s involvement, if any, in the supply chain for the equipment used by the Lebanese organization.
