Hezbollah Targets Israeli Military Site for First Time Since Ceasefire

The Israeli Army announced that Hezbollah launched two mortars at the Mount Dov area along the border between Israel and Lebanon on Monday.

According to the Israeli military, both projectiles struck open areas and caused no injuries.

This marks the first instance of fire from Lebanon since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect last week. Despite the truce, the Israeli Army has conducted several strikes in Lebanon, citing what it described as violations of the ceasefire by Hezbollah.

Hezbollah confirmed the mortar attack, explaining it was a retaliatory measure against Israel's repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement. The group stated that it had carried out a "preliminary defensive response" this evening, targeting the Israeli army's outpost in the Rweisat al-Alam area of the Kfarshuba hills in southern Lebanon.

In its statement, Hezbollah said it had chosen to take action after efforts by the relevant authorities to halt these violations have proven unsuccessful, warning against further Israeli violations.

"Forewarned is forearmed," the militant group said.

Following the mortar attack, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed a “harsh response.”

“We promised to act against any violation of the ceasefire by Hezbollah, and that is exactly what we will do,” Katz wrote on X. “Hezbollah’s firing at an army post in Mount Dov will be met with a harsh response."
