Hezbollah Signals Mixed Messages on Negotiations as Speaker Berri’s Role Questioned

Conflicting reports emerged Friday over Hezbollah’s stance on potential negotiations to end the ongoing conflict with Israel. Some sources claimed the group had revoked Speaker Nabih Berri’s authority to negotiate on its behalf, insisting that it would personally lead any future talks.

Other sources indicated that Hezbollah has refused to allow any third party to negotiate a ceasefire on its behalf.

However, later statements from sources close to the group told Al-Jadeed that Hezbollah does not intend to negotiate independently, emphasizing that Speaker Berri will continue to lead talks, as he has in previous negotiations.

Hezbollah also stated that no authorized spokesperson has issued any position regarding negotiations and described media reports citing a Hezbollah source as “completely untrue.”
