Hezbollah has released its first official statement regarding the Israeli airstrike that targeted Fuad Shukr, the group's top military commander, last night in Beirut.
While confirming Shukr's presence in the building at the time of the strike, Hezbollah stopped short of confirming his death.
The statement said that civil defense teams are currently working "diligently but slowly" to clear the rubble from the destroyed building.
"We are still waiting for the result of this action, including the fate of the great commander and other civilians," the statement read, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding Shukr's status.
