Health Ministry Says No Reported or Suspected Monkeypox Cases in Lebanon so Far

Health Ministry stressed on Monday that there was no reported or suspected case of monkeypox in Lebanon so far, saying that if there were any, it would be officially announced by the Ministry.

“Monkeypox is a viral disease that is transmitted through direct contact with infected animals, direct contact with an infected person through respiratory particles, or through the respiratory secretions of a person infected with the disease or its skin lesions, or by contacting things that have been contaminated with its fluids and secretions,” read a statement issued by the Health Ministry.

It indicated that the incubation period for the disease is between 5 and 21 days, saying that the disease will not be transmitted during this period.

“The symptoms of the disease are fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, back and muscle pain, severe weakness, in addition to the appearance of a rash,” it added.
