Haroun Blames Officials for Inaction, Says Lebanese Are Dying Due to Medicine Shortage

Head of the Syndicate of Private Hospitals Sleiman Haroun wondered about the inaction of the Lebanese Officials and the alternation between responsibilities, blaming them for fighting over the presidency while the people are dying of sickness and due to medicine shortage.

He stressed the existence of distressed hospitals in the country, saying that “people are unable to afford hospital care.”

“Lifting subsidies on medicines and medical supplies had a negative impact on the healthcare sector and led to a significant rise in the hospital fees,” Haroun said in an interview with LBCI.

“The National Security Fund (NSSF) and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) have become unable to cover hospital fees as they are struggling financially and have reached their limits,” he noted.
