Hankach to UNHCR: Isn't a Country that Signs Touristic Agreements Considered Safe for the Return of Its People?

Lawmaker Elias Hankach said on Saturday that Syrian President Bashar Al Assad signed several agreements with his Iranian counterpart, including receiving 50 thousand Iranian tourists per year.

"We ask the international community and the UNHCR, who have concerns regarding the refugees’ safety: Isn’t a country that signs touristic agreements considered safe for the return of its people?" Hankach tweeted.

"Why your assistance to Syria is not linked with their return? Why should they exclusively stay in Lebanon?”" he asked.
