Hankach Says Kataeb Party Will Confront in the New Parliament

Newly Kataeb elected lawmaker Elias Hankach thanked all those who voted for him, stressing that he would keep representing them and defending their rights.

“It is not easy to topple a corrupt ruling elite. There are accumulations and a long path that must be relied upon for a greater change,” Hankach said in an interview with VDL24.

The newly elected lawmaker stressed that the Kataeb party had sacrificed itself for national interests.

Hankach pointed out that his party would not vote for Nabih Berri as Parliament Speaker, saying that its aim is to secure a great “unanimity” so as to not vote for him.

“We will confront in the new parliament as the country is on the brink of collapse. Time has come for the formation of a government of specialists that could save the country from this deteriorated situation,” he added.

“We seek an independent government that could regenerate the confidence of the Lebanese people and the international community,” he concluded.
