Kataeb MP Elias Hankach announced the completion of the first phase of a project to install solar-powered lighting along the Metn Expressway.
In a post on X, Hankach highlighted the collaborative nature of the initiative, which was carried out with the support of the "Our Environment" Association, led by Youssef Sharbaty, and the "Make Your Mark" Association, spearheaded by the Kataeb lawmaker himself.
He noted that a commemorative plaque, captured by photographer Rami Rizk, was presented to Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny in recognition of the effort.
Hankach confirmed that work on the second phase would begin soon, followed by a third phase aimed at fully illuminating the expressway.
The first phase saw the installation of 75 solar-powered streetlights along the stretch from Baabdat to Roumieh. The project’s next stages will extend lighting across the entire expressway, covering areas from Jdeideh through Biaqout, Bsalim, Roumieh, Mar Chaaya, Broummana, and Aatchaneh, reaching Baabdat.
