Hamiyeh Holds Energy Ministry Responsibility Of River Flooding

Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamiyeh, has placed blame on the Ministry of Energy for the flooding of the Beirut River, as indicated on the “X” platform.

"It is evident that the water did not follow its course towards the sea due to the failure to isolate and clean the riverbed, resulting in water flowing into the Karantina area." Hamiyeh emphasized that, according to the attached letter addressed to the Ministry of Energy and Water, the Ministry of Energy falls within the scope of its responsibilities outlined in Law No. 221 dated 05/29/2000, which regulates the water sector and specifies tasks related to correcting river water courses," he pointed out.

In light of this, the Minister urged relevant authorities to prioritize the cleaning of rivers before the occurrence of the next storm.
