Hamas Accuses Netanyahu of Sabotaging Gaza Ceasefire Efforts Again

Hamas announced on Sunday that the new ceasefire proposal, put forward by the US during talks in Doha, reflects Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's rejection of both a permanent ceasefire and a full withdrawal from Gaza.

Additionally, the group claimed that Netanyahu still insists on maintaining control over key strategic points, such as the Netzarim junction, the Rafah crossing, and the Philadelphi Route.

Hamas, therefore, accused the Israeli PM of deliberately obstructing negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza, expressing frustration over what it described as Netanyahu's strategy of "buying time and prolonging aggression" by continuously imposing new demands and conditions.

The statement also alleged that Netanyahu has reneged on previous commitments regarding the terms of a prisoner exchange deal, further complicating the negotiations.

"We hold Netanyahu fully responsible for undermining the mediators' efforts and preventing an agreement from being reached," Hamas declared, adding that the Israeli leader bears complete responsibility for the lives of hostages in Gaza.

In conclusion, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the agreement it accepted on July 2, 2024, which it said was based on U.S. President Joe Biden's announcement and the relevant U.N. Security Council resolution, calling on the mediators to take responsibility and oblige Israel to implement what has been agreed upon.
