Gemayel: What Happened Today in Joint Committees Session Will Not Be Taken for Granted

A heated debate occurred today between Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel and Lawmaker Ali Hassan Khalil during joint committees’ session because of Khalil’s use of unethical and immoral expressions that do not rise to the level of communication between deputies.

“We took part today in this session to affirm that the country will fall into chaos if municipal elections are not held. Tens of millions of ways exist for the government to conduct municipal elections and to finance them, especially since the required amount is 8 million dollars, which is a quarter of the amount that the Central Bank is paying daily,” Gemayel said in a press conference.

“I place what happened today in the joint committees' session in the custody of Parliament Speaker Berri, and I will not say what happened so as not to contribute to the occurrence of strife,” he noted.

“The recording is available, and if Berri considers that what took place in the session okay, this means that there is a big problem, as there has been a violation of sanctities,” he added.

“Berri knows very well how to deal with the issue, and if he did not address it, then this means that the message has been delivered,” he pointed out.

“The recordings are available in the Parliament and I hope that they will be published,” he concluded.
