Gemayel Urges Strong, Independent Lebanese State in Talks with EU Envoy

Kataeb Party leader MP Samy Gemayel met with European Union Ambassador Sandra De Waele, with talks focusing on Lebanon’s security, governance, and sovereignty.

During the meeting, Gemayel emphasized that Lebanon’s protection depends on the emergence of a strong, independent State capable of making its own decisions, free from external agendas that could drag the country into conflicts its citizens do not want. He stressed that the State must retain a monopoly on weapons, and that efforts to restore stability must begin with returning military and security authority to legitimate institutions.

Gemayel also commended the European Union for its continued support of Lebanon’s state institutions, highlighting the EU’s role in reinforcing the country’s sovereignty and strengthening its regional standing.

The meeting, held at the Kataeb's headquarters in Saifi, was attended by the party's Political Bureau members Alain Hakim and Joelle Bou Abboud.
