Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel noted that the rejecting the subordination to the control of arms and bringing Lebanon out of its isolation was not only the responsibility of the Maronites or Christians, but a national responsibility.

“With all due respect to Parliament Speaker Berri, the equation of either a Hezbollah candidate or the presidential vacuum is the problem, and not the failure of Christian MPs to agree on a candidate. The Kataeb Party rejected this equation in 2016 and rejects it today," Gemayel tweeted.
